I had an urge to fix all her problems. Which was stupid. She was doing fine without me. But something about those big eyes…
Mase Colt-Manning has always preferred his humble life as a Texas rancher to his birthright as the son of a legendary rock star. In fact, he rarely visits his father’s rarefied world in Rosemary Beach, especially if it means bunking at his vile half-sister Nan’s house—until one visit leads to a chance encounter with a young, gorgeous house maid who awakens him with her off-key but spirited imitation of a country music star…
Reese Ellis finally has her freedom. After escaping a lifetime of abuse from her parents and classmates for an undiagnosed learning disorder, she seizes the opportunity to be a house maid to some of the richest families in Rosemary Beach. But her job is in jeopardy when she causes an accident at the home of her most important client, Nan Dillon. When a hot, half-naked stranger with a cowboy’s swagger comes to her rescue, she’s intrigued—then afraid once he shows his own interest. Reese has never met a trustworthy man in her life. Will Mase be any different?
My review…
I had actually been pissed at the mirror for hurting her. Who gets fucking mad at an object? “Mase?”
Oh my! Mase Colt-Manning is one amazing man.
Mase runs a ranch back in Texas and he comes to visit his sister Harlow where he meets a young women called Reese, Reese has had a troubled past and struggles with trusting men until Mase came along and changes everything that she has been brought to believe. Like many of Abbi’s books I loved the romance and the story line of it, the twists and turns always manage to get me enticed into the story line and with this one my views have not changed.
I loved how Mase and Reese’s romance grew with the more the story went on and how you got a glimpse into the other characters in the book such as Harlow and Grant and their little baby Hope as well as Rush and Blair with their child Nate it was amazing to see them all again like catching up with old friends so I hope if anyone does read this book, which I strongly recommend, they start with the other books first as it makes the book that more impressive. As always with these books you get a glimpse of rosemary beaches very own queen bitch Nan. Now if you have read the other books you would understand why I have awarded her that name however even just by reading this book you’ll see why.
Reese is one character that surprised me with her response to Nan though as most just write Nan of to be a flat-out bitch however Reese does not and this me think that maybe Abbi might be getting us ready for Nan to have her own story? or maybe she just wanted to empathize on how understanding Reese is but anyway I think it would be interesting for Nan to actually have her own book.
Surprisingly, with all of the heroin’s issues, I didn’t feel that she was a weak heroin or whiny in any way. I really enjoyed her character. Despite all of the hardship she endured, she isn’t bitter or angry at the world either. When she escaped her family and came to Rosemary Beach, she was starting a new page. She just wanted a little peace and solitude and a way to live a normal life. I looked at her as someone with courage, strength, and honesty. And watching Mase bring her out of her shell and get her to learn how to deal and trust again was truly the sweetest thing I’ve read in while. These are totally my favorite couple of the week if not month!
Overall, I Loved this book but really when do i actually dislike any of Abbi’s books? and i hope all of you get the chance or make time for this book as I can a sure you that your time will not be wasted on this book that’s for sure. I’m personally thinking of a way to get Mase to jump out of the book and be my boyfriend to be honest he is just that swoon-worthy.
- story line – 5 stars
- Romance – 5 stars
- HEP?- yes but lands on cliffhanger for book 2 (When I’m Back)
“Why?” she asked.
“Why what?”
“Why do you want to help me?” I didn’t even pause.
“Because you’re worth helping.”
I agree, 5 stars all the way. Hope you enjoy When You’re Back. I just finished it. See http://lizellyn.com/2015/07/06/abbi-glines-when-youre-back-rosemary-beach-12/
