Bully By Penelope Douglas Review

Blurb…

My name is Tate. He doesn’t call me that, though. He would never refer to me so informally, if he referred to me at all.

We’re neighbors, and once, we were best friends. But then, one summer, he turned on me and has made it his mission to screw up my life at every opportunity. I’ve been humiliated, shut out, and gossiped about all through high school. His pranks and rumors got more sadistic as time wore on, and I made myself sick trying to hide from him. I worried about what was around every corner and behind every door.

So I left.

I spent a year studying abroad and bathed in the freedom of life without Jared. Now I’m back to finish up high school and get the hell out of here forever. I’m hoping that after a year of breathing room, he’s moved on and forgotten all about me.

But even if he hasn’t changed, I have. I’m not interested in avoiding him or turning the other cheek anymore. We’re going to go head to head, because neither of us wants to back down.

My Review…

“Do you know what this is?” I took my middle finger and patted the corner of my eye with it. “It’s me, wiping away the last tear you’ll get.”

To start with i loved Tate’s strength. What she had to put up with was not easy, especially at a time in your life where you are so fragile already. Jared definitely ups his game when he sees Tate standing her ground. I have to admit that I did love seeing Tate develop some self-confidence and finally stand-up for herself. Jared’s bullying has left Tate with few friends which causes her to be socially inept at times. It was nice to see Tate blossom and find a backbone and she didn’t take any crap from him she fought back this time i admired her for it, not many would of had the strength to do so but she finally had had enough…
Jared and Tate grew up next door to each other. Jared was sweet, generous and friendly and they were the best and closest of friends. But not anymore. The kid who had held her hand through the pain of losing her mother, who had climbed trees with her, and who had snuck over for sleepovers was gone and now he seemed to live solely to torment her.

“What was worse than losing you was when you started to hurt me. Your words and actions made me hate coming to school. They made me uncomfortable in my own home.”

Tate was the best character in Bully. You really sympathize with everything she’s going/ gone through, but what I really loved was how imperfect she also was. It’s easy to write a perfect, sweet character that’s getting bullied and has never said anything bad about anybody. In my opinion, that would have made the story completely unrealistic. She definitely had her fair share of harming others with her words. It’s easy to get carried away in the moment and regret what ends up coming out of your mouth, so I was glad that Ms. Douglas didn’t just make Tate the harmless victim.

Their relationship was complex, but sweet and you couldn’t help but root for them. There’s nothing more beautiful than friends falling in love with each other. They had a lot of history, some good and some bad, but that’s what made it so strong and just… right.

“I want to touch you.” His words were against my lips now. “I want to feel what’s mine. What’s always been mine.”

We even get a few flashbacks that help you connect to and understand the relationship they had when they were kids.

The writing was simple but kept me engaged into the story. I never wanted to put the book down!

Bully was an easy to read, gripping story about love, redemption and friendship.

“Are you mine?” I asked as I wiped my tears.
He kissed the corners of my mouth softly, and I felt heat rise up my neck. “Always have been,”
he whispered against my mouth.”

The Lycan Hunter Review

22053393

The Blurb…

When Alexis James arrives at her first assignment in months, she anticipates the danger and violence rife in her calling as a Lycan Hunter. What she doesn’t expect is a handsome, blue-eyed wolf saving her life and kidnapping her. Surrounded by the enemy, Alexis must not only survive her prisoners but the bonds of a different sort that begin to form against her will.
Mikko Kyran was chosen by the gods to lead his pack, and he has made it his mission to end the eight thousand years of war plaguing his people. The Alpha never suspected that the key to the prophecy ending the Forever War would be held by a smart-mouthed, sexy Hunter determined to kill him.
Can two people from different worlds set aside everything they know about one another long enough to survive retribution from the Hunters, the pack, and the gods? Or will their differences start a war that neither can win?

My review…

Okay..Okay so i have one word for this book and that is AMAZING! WOW I loved this book! Okay so i should probably go on to tell you why this book is so amazing. For start of the detail that went into this book is extraordinary, authors out there who struggle with this get the book and take note,The way the author described it with so much detail it was easy to picture it fully in your head and made it hard for me to put the book down.

Alexis James (the hunter),who is the heroine in the book is a small but mighty person. She had been through a lot through the book but nevertheless, she still came out like the warrior she is, her strength in this book is amazing and because of this she was perfect for the story and her back story fit into the story line perfectly.

Kyran is the hero in the book, he is a Lycan, not only is he a Lycan but he is Mikko which means he is the leader of his clan. He is a excellent hero who repeatedly shows strength, honor and love not only for his people but for Alexis. Kyran’s and Alexis’s relationship is tricky and seemed more like a love/hate type of thing but it was powerful and i thoroughly enjoyed reading along the journey.

The book was fast paced and filled with good humor and action.I love paranormal romances where the hero and heroine find their true mate. This book took a different view on how Kyran and Alexis could tell that they were mates which was good to read. But near the end of the book i was not happy at all i wont go into to detail about what happened as it would be a major spoiler but be warned.

Overall, it has a great ending, I fully enjoyed the book and hope everyone else. I recommend it to anyone who loves a good romance and enjoys action and humor.

And i hope you all had a fantastic Halloween!!! 😀

It is the most powerful of all emotions, through its power even time can be transcended.

,My thoughts…

First of all I really enjoyed watching Ashley and her best friends, aka the EVA’s, interact.   Their friendships were the truest kind of friendship.   They had each other’s back no matter what the situation was and throughout Ashley’s  journey to finding out what her dreams mean, you’re taken into a whole new world of possibilities on the meaning of true love.
I would recommend this novel to anyone that wants a refreshing take of true love. It’s a story that will have you wanting to know more, and at the end of the book your left waiting for the second book “A Memory of Love…”

Blurb…

  1. Willow Jane Carlyle has the perfect apartment, a job that defines her, and she’s miserable. With the help of her first real friend, Willow begins asking questions about her personal history and the origins of the virus that has stripped her of the successes that defined her. Her questions lead her to the underbelly of the New Republic of America. What she finds there will shake the Republic to its core.

My Thoughts…

To be honest, I really wasn’t sure about this book when I first started it. But i decided to take a chance with it and within a few pages I was hooked and couldn’t put it down. IT went from “eh” to really impressive and I enjoyed the story. An entertaining and interesting read. If you like mystery, survival, conspiracy, and adventure, this book will not disappoint. Audrey is a remarkable storyteller weaving a fiction story that could quite possibly become non-fiction in the future.

Overall a very good read, this book was clearly just setting and explaining everything before it goes into it as its apart of a series .But overall the book was riveting, intriguing this one will leave you spellbound as this is one story you won’t want to miss!!

Normal by Danielle Pearl review

girl laying in the grass, looking down, she is very sad and depressed

Blurb….

It’s the kind of situation most people would dread. Starting at a new high school, in the middle of my senior year, in a new town, in a new state. I know no one. No one knows me. That’s what I’m counting on.

A year ago, Aurora “Rory” Pine was just a normal teenage girl – just as sweet and naive as the fairy tale princess she was named after.

But this isn’t a year ago.

Rory is broken, and now suffering from a debilitating anxiety disorder, wrought with precarious triggers, she moves across the country to escape the source of her troubles. Her plan is anonymity, but that’s easier said than achieved for the new girl having a panic episode outside of calculus. The worst part? There’s a witness – and a gorgeous one at that.

Sam is a walking trigger for Rory. Incredibly handsome, built like the star athlete he obviously is, and undoubtedly popular, Sam outwardly represents everything Rory despises about high school. But as the fates keep throwing them together, a connection sparks that neither ever expected, and certainly couldn’t ignore.

But Sam has issues too, and Rory’s past won’t just stay in the damned past. When friendship evolves into something deeper, can a girl utterly destroyed by the worst kind of betrayal and a boy battling demons of his own ever have a normal relationship? Is that even what they want? Find out in NORMAL, a gritty story of trust and abuse, heartbreak and salvation, and if they’re lucky – love. This is not a flowery romance – not for the faint of heart.

Review….

simply loved this book.I got a message of Danielle and oh, man, so glad I said yes to reviewing it!… I cried, I laughed, I bit my fingernails in anticipation It was AMAZING!!! I loved this book soo much I couldn’t put it down, even though it wasn’t exactly short! It was so fast paced I constantly just needed to know what happened next. We also get to know the people in her life, both in the past and present, and all of the characters are incredibly well developed. It’s impossible not to feel for Sam as well, and their connection is so well written throughout the story that you can really feel their emotions. BUT the cliffhanger at the end!!! I was horrified at first forgetting it was apart of a series and i sat there ranting for a good ten minutes until i re-read the last sentence again and seen that it did in fact say “Not the end ” and not “The end” lets just say i felt a bit stupid 🙂 Overall, Five stars. Highly recommend! And i can’t wait for the second book!!!!! *squealing*

The Blurb…

Every year, the girls of Phi Delta Chi, Fiona Arlett’s dream sorority, hold a competition.

The prize?

James Reid, king size bar of eye candy and famous actor turned haughty undergrad.

The rules?

No girl but the winner can touch him.

The problem?

Fiona miiight have unknowingly banged his brains out last week.

Losing the competition may mean wearing a chicken suit to the sexiest Halloween costume contest, but she’d rather have feathers up her butt than let the truth out.

Unfortunately, she and James have lots in common and more chemistry than the science wing. Soon they’re sneaking around behind the backs of UCSD’s hottest and most vengeful girls.

If they find out?

Fiona’s screwed
